The Queer Youth Arts Programme is one of the most vital elements of Buddies' yearly activities, offering a monthly open-mic for queer youth, artist-run workshops, The Young Creators Unit, and free tix to Buddies' productions. PrideCab is the culmination of the programme, in which 12 young artists are brought together for two months to create an all-original cabaret loosely inspired by TO's queer history, and their unique perspectives on what it means to be young & queer today.

The B-Girlz are packing up their knock-off designer handbags and going west this summer in search of big hair, lower gas prices and the occasional cow-poke. This is their only pre-tour Toronto engagement at Buddies during Pride Week. Toronto's favourite drag troupe never fail to pack the house with enthusiastic fans. Known as "the Beastie Boys of Drag", they sing live (no lip-stynk here!), dance and perform colourful medleys in this unique, high-energy, glamorous, "Las Vegas style" multi-media revue. Remember! What happens at a B-Girlz show... stays at a B-Girlz show!

As a gay boy growing up outside of Blyth (in rural Ontario), Buddies' crowned prince Shane MacKinnon drew strength - as did many a fag - from dear Madge. Buddies proudly presents Shane & Co. for a sexy night of cabaret performances paying tribute to queer icons that helped save the day!

Once a year Jane hosts an evening, with two parts: Part One is a reading of a new queer play (this year Til Rain by T Berto directed by Edward Roy); and Part Two is an Open Mic -- where you can get up and run, jump, rant, sing, strip, do drag, recite, act a monologue, whatever tickles your fancy. Jane will be pleased to introduce you, and she'll even do a little act of her own.

Tallulah's provides cool respite for the weary and the thirsty on Pride Day afternoon. From 3pm we spread out the welcome mat for a low-key gathering just off the parade route. Duck in for a quick one, rendezvous with the posse, or just meet the fling from the night before at Patricia's bar. By nightfall the bar is busy with folk who want to escape the crush of Church Street for an evening of dancing in the cabaret.
