Small Wooden Shoe demonstrates the difficulty of demonstrating the effects of progress on our lives. Intimate, fun, vulnerable and smart, Small Wooden Shoe engages with the world in an honest, informal way while maintaining the need to step up and entertain.
Six performers, not in any way experts in science, attempt to understand how we got to this point in history and how to share what they've discovered with an audience using things they found around the house. Absurd and delightful with a critical eye and a casual formalism, Small Wooden Shoe tries to help - and believes live performance might just be the best way.
Some of the most remarkable of Toronto's new generation of theatre and dance artists collaborate with Artistic Director Jacob Zimmer and Artistic Producer Erika Hennebury. Conceived by Zimmer and directed in collaboration with Ame Henderson (Public Recordings) Dedicated to the Revolutions will be created with Dora and Harold winning designer Trevor Schwellnus (Aluna) and performers Frank Cox-O'Connell (One Reed Theatre), Aimée Dawn Robinson (motherdrift), Chad Dembski (surprise performance), Erin Shields (Groundwater), Evan Webber (One Reed Theatre) and Gillian Lewis.
After creating the Rhubarb hit Do You Have Any Idea How Fast You Were Going?, Connect the Dots at Buddies In Bad Times Theatre's Audience Relocation, Reasonable People, Reasonably Disagreeing at Harbourfront Centre's HATCH, I Keep Dropping Sh*t at the Fringe of Toronto, and Its a Matter of Scale at Rhubarb Small Wooden Shoe brings Dedicated to the Revolutions to fruition in 2009.
